sketchbook project 2012

The Sketchbook Project is a collection of stechbooks from around the world.  There is no subject or criteria other than one must leave the sketchbook in its original dimensions.

I joined this year with a friend.  We thought that it would be fun.  I thought it was going to be difficult since I am a procrastinator.  I have managed to finish.  My friend has not... the good news is that she still has 2 weeks to finish!

Here are my drawings - animal portraits, all in black ink.

Where I have been

SO it has been a while... a rather long while since the last post.  My excuse for this is the following:  I have been learning a new trade- WELDING!!!!
Such endeavours take time.  And that can be translated to me being slow at perfecting the art of welding.  It is a work in progress starting from accumulating the steel to thinking about assembling it to actually manipulating the material and finally welding.  The smallest thing can really take a vast amount of time!
This first piece was something fun made with a classmate while we were learning to weld with Oxy-acetylene.  The welds are rough but we had fun and were proud of the final piece.

After this, I worked on a sculpture that I saw once.  I like how it turned out.  The head is actually not welding.  I cast it in resin.

As fun as welding is, I am laying down my gloves (for the moment - I will come back to welding) and going to pursue pottery next.

A new landscape

A piece I completed for my cousin.  Her request was that it be red and look like one of my landscapes.  When I finished it, I considered keeping it and making a different one for my cousin!
